What can be said about Loco Dice that hasn’t been said already? Hip hop DJ/rapper turned minimal house & techno legend? Boss of Desolat record label bringing us talents such as tINI, Guti and Sante? Creator of dance floor killers such as “Tight Laces”, “Definition” and “Phat Dope Shit”? This year he embarked on yet another Under 300 tour, continued laying down the law at Sven Vath’s Cocoon parties, as well as travelling through North America as part of the CNTRL: Beyond EDM tour with none other that Mr Richie Hawtin.  To top off a busy year he supplies what all Loco Dice fans have been waiting for – an original 4 track Loco Dice EP.

A1 Auxotox
A big bouncy track with a lot of tasty elements that we’re used to hearing in Loco Dice music from the past; clever percussion creating great texture over an extremely groovy bass line, occasional vocal hits and strong piano stabs gelled together with big synth pads over the top; this sexy, atmospheric techno record is a typical Loco Dice beast.

A2 Detox
Detox couldn’t let you down when it comes to the dance floor – a dark groovy bass line and a catchy vocal snippet and darker atmospheric pad sounds giving this track a much more “club” feel. Evolves nicely and can see this tearing up parties everywhere.

B1 Neurotox
Much more of techno feel to this track, but with all the Loco Dice zest. A big loud piece of music with big chords, a big smooth bass line, big break downs and ice cool Spanish vocal cuts. This record is perfect for the big clubs. My favourite of the EP, proof Loco Dice still knows how to pack a punch and do the buissness on the dance floor.

B2 Retox
Retox provides a brilliant quarter to this EP, something different to show case his different tastes and styles. A more minimal track with beautiful pad patterns over the top, faster and sharper hat formations, and dark and sexy spoken word vocals, capped off with interesting synth effects heard in more of his Mnus styled music, this captivating piece of music is a great choice for this EP.

Another piece of work from Loco Dice proving why he is at the top of the game, 4 very interesting tracks with all the style and vibe from his past productions. A must have, especially on plastic.

9.5/10
